While some respondents – both Omani and expatriate – insisted that Oman is yet to have a private sector institute that they could categorise as ‘best’, a majority had one college or the other in mind.

Majan College and Caledonian College have retained the top two spots this year as well, with NTI making an entry tying with Caledonian at #2. Several new colleges have been established in the recent past but Majan and Caledonian continue to dominate top-of-the-mind recall. While 17 per cent of Omani respondents have recalled Majan College as the best education institute, among expatriates the figure stood at 11 per cent.

Surprises

This is another category where Omani and expatriate preferences have shown a clear difference. Gulf College is a new entrant this year, with four per cent of Omani respondents preferring it to just one per cent of expats. Modern College has gone down in its rankings, from #3 last year to #4 this time. Polyglot Institute is a new entrant to this year’s list.


No entry

Colleges like Higher College of Technology, Oman Medical College, Sohar Medical College, Mazoon College and Middle East College, which figured in last years’ list, have failed to make it this time.
