Programmes of Gulf College help students shoulder responsibilities at workplace
Gulf College always endeavours to enhance and strengthen academic knowledge of students through perseverance, innovation and creative ideas.
The college focuses on strengthening critical thinking and analytical ability of students through knowledge transfer and knowledge-sharing, using various sources. Its perseverance in understanding the latest internationally recognised higher education programmes has given it a distinctive edge and has enabled it to perform with a distinguished quality.
According to the management, the college is open to every student from Oman and other countries and has many programmes and initiatives to help students shoulder various business and social responsibilities and make a positive impact at their workplace after graduating from the college.
The college trains and educates students to think freely and with wisdom to strengthen their sense of responsibility and the college also guides them on basic principles focused on developing their personality, getting used to administering themselves and on improving their personal initiatives and skills. Gulf College has formed various groups for this purpose.
These groups work towards improving the spiritual and ethical principles of students and spreading the academic thinking among them and to strengthen working relationship between the students and the academic and administrative staff of the college. The groups also work to find talents and skills among students and to encourage and support them to participate in various sports, culture, scouts and social events.
The college has tie-ups with reputed universities of the United Kingdom. The programmes are offered on both full-time and part-time basis.
Currently, the college has academic affiliation with Staffordshire University and University of Reading in the UK. Gulf College offers bachelor's degrees with honours and master's degrees in academic affiliation with three UK universities through two different arrangements.
The master's degree programmes are offered through the International Outreach Arrangement. This system has a tremendous advantage for the students as they get the same rights and privileges which a registered student gets at the university in the UK. Teaching is carried out in the sultanate by the same academic faculty from the affiliated universities in the UK. The only difference between a student studying at the university in the UK and a student studying in Oman is the location.
Bachelor's degree programmes with honours are offered at Gulf College through the franchise arrangement with Staffordshire University of the UK. This system is similar to that of the International Outreach Arrangement except that the academic staff members are appointed by the college. The students at Gulf College get all the privileges similar tothose students at the university in the UK and these include use of the university facilities such as the electronic library.
The academic quality at Gulf College assures availability of effective and appropriate teaching and effective learning opportunities, besides support and quality assessment.
