Wayne Pearce - CEO, Oman Air
The board of directors of Oman Air has announced the appointment of Wayne Pearce as the CEO with effect from January 3, 2012. Announcing the appointment, Oman Air's chairman, H E Darwish al Bulushi, said, On behalf of the board of directors, I am extremely pleased to welcome Pearce to Oman Air. We are confident that his experience and expertise will enable the airline to reach even greater heights of excellence and confirm it as one of the leading airlines in the region and beyond."
Pearce joins Oman Air after he held several senior executive positions in Qantas and other airlines in the region. Pearce was also the group managing director with Gold Medal Travel in the UK, which has a special focus on the Gulf Region. He said, "I am delighted to be taking up this important role. I look forward to helping the company both prosper and grow, as well as playing a strong role in the development of Oman's travel and tourism industry."
Hussain Hassan Ali AbdulHussain - Chief Executive, Haya Water
Haya Water's board of directors has announced the appointment of Hussain Hassan Ali AbdulHussain as the company's new chief executive. AbdulHussain brings with him 24 years experience in oil and gas projects, operations, engineering and commercial development here in Oman to his new role and says he is relishing the challenge to lead one of Oman's most dynamic, progressive and innovative companies.
A graduate from the University of Arizona, AbdulHussain spent 14 years working for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) before moving to the Oman Oil Company and then helping with the creation of Oman Petrochemical Industries Company (OPIC). He subsequently moved to work at Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company (ORPC) as business development and marketing general manager before leaving to establish his own Engineering Support and Services business.
Robin de Klerk - CEO, Al Fajar al Alamia
Al Fajar al Alamia (Al Fajar) has announced the appointment of Robin de Klerk as the CEO of the group. Al Fajar, Technical Services & Rock Blasting Company (Techrock) and Technical Drilling & Blasting Company (Techdrill) have in the past operated independently. They are now associates of Al Fajar while maintaining their separate agenda and the new post of CEO has been created to consolidate their activities and create opportunities for diversification.
De Klerk is a mining engineer from South Africa with a B.Com in business management and transport economics. For the last 25 years he has worked with African Explosives Limited (AEL), the largest company in Africa engaged in explosives manufacturing, sales and blasting services, with interests in several countries. Before joining AEL, for ten years he worked in the diamond mine of De Beers Consolidated Mines.
Saleem Amanullah - General Manager Customer Services, Oman Air
Oman Air has announced the appointment of Saleem Amanullah as general manager, customer services. He will be based at the airline's headquarters in Muscat and will spearhead Oman Air's drive for the highest quality in all direct customer contact. Amanullah was appointed following a 23-year career in aviation, most recently as CEO, cargo for RAS-ENT, a Canadian GSA based in Toronto.
Prior to this, he held a number of positions with Gulf Air, including head of airports. Amanulla also holds airline pilot and flight dispatch certification from AFDTC in Dallas. On taking up his appointment, Amanulla said, "I am delighted to be joining Oman Air and to be taking on such an important role at a time when the airline is attracting such widespread acclaim."
