Oman to host GCC e-govt meet

Oman will host the first ever GCC e-government conference in December

Oman will host the first ever GCC e-government conference in December, recognising the rapid growth of the e-government sector in Oman and the country's growing advancement in its delivery of electronic services to citizens and residents across the country.

Oman was nominated to host this event at a meeting of the GCC ICT (information communication technologies) authorities held in Bahrain in June 2008, when it was agreed to organise a three-day conference to discuss the challenges facing e-governance and to keep pace with global ICT issues.

An unwavering commitment to transform the nation into a sustainable knowledge society has resulted in the Sultanate of Oman being chosen as the host country. This has been led by the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to ensure that the sultanate strategically takes advantage of ICT to enhance government services.
