Toyota is the topper with BMW and Mercedes in the runners-up positions
Under 45: Toyota
45 & Above: Toyota
The winner in the Best Car Brand category, much like the Best Bank Brand, has been a constant all these years.
The only time we got a different result was last year, when we asked respondents to choose the best luxury car brand and Mercedes Benz, this year's second runner-up emerged the winner.
As every year, Toyota is the topper with BMW and Mercedes in the runners-up positions. BMW, which replaced Merc as the first runner-up in 2007 after a gap of three years has managed to retain the position, albeit by a slender margin. Lexus, which was at #5 in the 2007 survey has moved up one rung replacing Nissan which dropped to #8.
The top three dichotomy
While the top three brands garners 51 per cent of overall votes, their combined share among Omanis is only 44 per cent as Porsche has garnered more votes than BMW. In the 2007 Best Brands survey (the last time we had the category), 75 per cent of Omani respondents had named Toyota, BMW and Mercedes.
The Merc deal
While BMW has retained its runner-up position by a slender margin over Mercedes-Benz, the latter is ahead of it among Omanis, ladies and the 45+ segment of the respondents.
From the 2007 list, Hyundai, Ford and Mazda fail to make it to the Top Ten this time and have been replaced by Porsche, Land Rover and Chevrolet.
